Sarasota resident, Mrs. X, was seen to replace her 20 year old dental veneers with porcelain crowns due to recurrent decay and cracking of the veneers. Replacement of veneers with porcelain crowns is indicated to strengthen/protect the patients remaining tooth structure. Not only are these crowns protecting the teeth, they are allowing the patient to have complete control over the color, shape, and size of the teeth. This allows the patient to have a beautiful new smile after treatment is completed. Note: patient is planning on completing lower restorations in the future. You can see some old crowns that are not very attractive on the lower. Case summary: 12 porcelain crowns on the upper and 2 porcelain crowns on the lower right. Cosmetic gum recontouring was discussed but patient was not interested in modifying the gum contours to ideal. Treatment was completed in two visits – three weeks apart. Patient choose to be sedated for her comfort. Please call or email us if you have any additional questions about this case or you would be interested in Cosmetic Dental Consultation.
