Diagnodent Laser

The Diagnodent laser is an accurate and reliable aid in the detection of cavities with an over 90% accuracy rate. The Diagnodent laser is used as an adjunct to digital x-rays and intra-oral examination. This device emits a fluorescent light onto the tooth at a specific wavelength that is reflected back to the machine in order to detect cavities. Bacteria fluoresce when exposed to the emitted wavelength, and relay that information back to the Diagnodent device in audio and visual forms. The audio signal allows us to focus on you, the patient, while the visual signal allows us to document the severity of the cavity in number form.

By using the Diagnodent device, we are able to detect cavities in their earlier stages and treat them before more extensive damage is done to the tooth structure.
