Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are a removable alternative to dental bridges. Partial dentures are removable devices that attach to the teeth adjacent to a single missing tooth, or a set of missing teeth, to provide you with a restoration to chew and smile with. Partial dentures are removable, which may take some getting used to, but are a great alternative to not having anything to chew or smile with at all.

Partial dentures are fabricated from the same acrylic based material that full dentures are made from. A cast-chrome metal framework lay beneath the acrylic material to give it increased durability. Small hooks latch onto the teeth adjacent to your space or gap to hold the partial into place.

Depending on your specific dental needs, a special type of partial called a precision-attached partial denture can be made to give your partial better retention. Precision-attached partial dentures require an adjacent tooth to be prepped for a specially designed crown or a dental implant designed to fit the partial denture. Your final crown or dental implant will have a precision attachment on it that your partial denture snaps into. Dr. Michael will help you to determine if a precision-attached partial is a viable option considering your specific circumstances.
