Dental Extractions

Extractions are always performed as a last resort. Our ultimate goal for every patient is to save teeth, but sometimes extraction is our only option. Tooth removal becomes necessary when your tooth is compromised to the point that restoration is impossible due to excessive decay, fracture, cracks, excessive pain, and/or infection.

Dr. Michael uses only the most gentle techniques to prevent damage to the existing bone surrounding the tooth and to make your visit as comfortable as possible when performing dental extractions. By using his gentle techniques, Dr. Michael also makes the extraction procedure and healing process a much quicker process.

Bone grafting is often performed after an extraction to preserve the jaw bone in case you decide to have an implant, bridge, or a denture placed. Preservation of the jaw bone is a priority when extracting teeth, because there is no way to re-grow bone after it is lost. Dr. Michael will inform you if bone grafting is a practical option based on your particular circumstances.
